Job Description

Solutions Engineer - New Builds Team

Do you love solving complex technical challenges and shaping ecommerce solutions that deliver real business value? Are you comfortable translating big ideas into scalable, well-architected builds? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for a Solutions Engineer to join our fast-paced New Builds team, where you'll help define, shape and deliver best-in-class Shopify Plus experiences for some of the world's most exciting ecommerce brands.

About Swanky

Swanky is one of the world's most experienced full-service international Shopify Plus agencies, supporting some of the largest and most ambitious retailers on the platform. Our global client base spans the UK, Europe, the US and APAC, and includes brands such as HelloFresh, Huel and Wilkinson Sword.

As an original Shopify Plus partner and one of the largest independent Shopify experts globally, we're known for delivering complex solutions and setting high standards in everything we do -- from UX and development through to strategic growth support.

About the Role

As a Solutions Engineer, you'll be a key contributor to the planning and technical architecture of Swanky's custom Shopify Plus builds. You'll collaborate with project managers, developers, and designers to shape robust, scalable ecommerce solutions that meet client needs and drive long-term value.

You'll be responsible for understanding complex client requirements and translating these into actionable technical plans -- covering everything from native platform features to third-party integrations, custom apps, and headless architecture. You'll also support our development team throughout delivery, helping to ensure technical solutions are implemented accurately and efficiently.

This is a client-facing role that combines technical know-how with strategic thinking and commercial awareness. You'll report into a Senior Solutions Engineer and work as part of a tight-knit and high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the technical lead during discovery and planning for new Shopify Plus builds. Translate client requirements into scalable technical specifications and solution architectures. Lead technical scoping sessions and document system integrations, app usage, and platform configurations. Advise clients on best practices around Shopify Plus, apps, APIs, and third-party systems. Collaborate closely with developers to ensure alignment between specification and delivery. Create estimates, timelines, and technical documentation for proposals and project plans. Stay up-to-date on new Shopify features and ecommerce trends, feeding insights into Swanky's delivery model. Identify and flag technical risks early in the project lifecycle, proposing effective solutions. Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and service development across the team.

Requirements

2+ years of experience in a Solutions Engineer, Technical Consultant, or similar ecommerce role. Strong understanding of Shopify Plus and/or comparable ecommerce platforms. Familiarity with API integrations, custom app development, and ecommerce infrastructure. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging clients and stakeholders. Ability to interpret business and user requirements and translate them into clear technical plans. Strong documentation and organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail. Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and supporting project delivery end to end.

Desired Skills

Prior experience with Shopify Plus builds or migrations. Understanding of headless commerce or composable architecture. Familiarity with ecommerce systems such as ERPs, CRMs, PIMs, and fulfilment platforms. Technical or platform certifications (e.g., Shopify, Salesforce, AWS) a plus. Experience in an agency or fast-paced digital consultancy environment. Experience working with remote teams across time zones.

Benefits

We invest in our team and aim to assist in growing and nurturing your skills.
