Our client in the Further Education Sector is currently looking to recruit a Solutions/Business Architect to join them on a 12-month contract. This Solutions Business Architect will work broadly to understand the organisation, its strategies, motivations, systems, processes and data before using that knowledge to analyse gaps, deficiencies and opportunities with the objective of co-designing visionary solutions. This Solutions / Business Architect role will work with the community predominantly, but not always, in the student systems space. The post holder will validate current state, develop common understanding of desired future state, and help produce functional maps, capability models and roadmaps that move our organisation towards shared goals.

Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities:

• Maintenance of an as-is functional and solution architecture framework covering the entire scope of Student Systems and all its interactions with existing and future environments.
• Provide thought leadership and delivery of a to-be functional and solution architecture framework covering the scope of student systems portfolio.
• Work with the Data Architect and senior systems colleagues to develop and record data models, and to define data integration and analytics strategies for Student related data
• Establish an IT architecture and governance process for critical systems that fits with existing processes. Contribute to formalisation of a review process for future roadmap validation.
• Support in evaluating products and technologies to support the to-be architecture.
• Identify and catalogue the student systems portfolio and lifecycle/support needs of systems within.
• Support the Student Systems Programme Director in the development of a roadmap and portfolio of projects to realise the to-be vision.
• Support and work with Systems colleagues to ensure that all deliverables support existing strategic ICT objectives & structures.
• Document the architecture design decisions at a landscape and technical reference model level.
