Solicitor - Strategic Projects and TransactionsScottishPower HQ,Competitive Salary with Annual Bonus, Family Healthcare and Car AllowanceHelp us create a better future, quickerThe role of a Solicitor in the Strategic Projects and Transactions legal team at ScottishPower is crucial to the smooth operation of ScottishPowers corporate affairs. In this key position, you will advise executive management and senior stakeholders at ScottishPower and work with Iberdrola on a wide range of legal matters related to corporate M&A, joint ventures and key commercialstrategic projects and transactionsWhat youll be doingIn this role, you will lead, influence, and manage legal support across ScottishPowers entire business group in respect of strategic projects and transactions, under the coordination of the Head of Legal for Strategic Projects and Transactions.You will serve as a key interface between the Iberdrola Group and ScottishPower, working alongside internal teams to deliver on all legal aspects of strategic projects and transactions. You will also manage teams of external legal advisors and relevant internal business teams daily.You will act as a focal point and subject matter legal expert on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic commercial projects, transactions, and corporate activities, and responsibilities will include proactively identifying, assessing, and recommending ways to manage legal risk across the ScottishPower/Iberdrola Group to facilitate efficient and effective business dealings..What youll bringTo be considered for this role, you must possess a current practicing certificate or membership of a UK Law Society (Scotland, England & Wales, Northern Ireland) and hold an LLB degree (or equivalent) with at least three years of relevant experience in corporate/commercial law.You should have a background in delivering corporate/commercial projects (preferably in M&A and/or joint venture projects within the Energy sector although candidates with strong corporate experience with no energy sector experience will also be considered) and experience of working in a leading legal corporate advisory team, either in-house or within a UK law firm.A proven track record in providing accurate, timely, and commercial legal advice is essential, including drafting and negotiating corporate and commercial transactional agreements and advising on contractual issues arising from large-scale M&A/corporate projects and transactions.Whats in it for youAs well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
