Software Engineer - Tech Returners - BAE Systems Digital Intelligence

Our programme is designed exclusively for individuals like you, with commercial experience in software engineering and a passion to return to their careers.

How does the programme work?

Through a combination of teaching sessions, workshops, and practical projects, you will gain a deep understanding of modern Java, as well as frontend technologies like React, CSS, and HTML.

You will be supported at every stage by our knowledgeable and dedicated tech coaches who collectively hold almost 50 years of combined industry experience. They will provide you with clear, personalised, and actionable feedback on your work and will be on hand to answer questions or point you to further resources.

But it\'s not just about technical skills. You\'ll also receive bespoke Career and Mindset coaching to help you build the human skills needed to excel in your career, like having a growth mindset, framing your career break positively, and navigating job interviews.

Guaranteed job interview with BAE Systems Digital Intelligence

For this programme, we have partnered with BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, a pioneering and innovative organisation in the cybersecurity industry. The company is funding the programme (meaning every place is FREE for returners!) and guaranteeing a job interview to everyone who participates.

We understand that returning to the tech industry after a break can be daunting, but rest assured, our team is experienced in working with people returning to tech and know exactly how to help you reach your full potential. Aside from that, they\'re also a lovely bunch of people!

Please note: While our Tech Returners programme is delivered remotely, jobs with BAE Systems require hybrid working at either their Gloucester or Manchester office.

Are you eligible for the programme?

First and foremost, our programme is for those wanting to return to their career after a career break. The career break lengths of our Returners are wonderfully varied - but you\'ll need to have had a minimum of six months away from commercial coding to be considered for the opportunity.

BAE security clearance

Due to the nature of the work that BAE Systems Digital Intelligence does, you will need to pass \'security clearance\' in order to secure a role. The criteria is as follows:

• Are you a UK resident?
• Do you have the permanent right to work in the UK?
• Have you lived continuously in the UK for the last 5 years with no break of more than 6 months?
• Do you agree to a check of any criminal convictions you might have had including spent and unspent convictions?
• Do you agree to a check of credit and financial history with a credit reference agency?

Frontend - 4 Weeks

Technical:

• Basic HTML
• Basic CSS
• Intro to JS for OOP programmers
• Basic TypeScript
• React

Career & Mindset:

• Owning your techspertise
• Interview prep workshop

Group Project - 1 Week

Technical:

• A full-stack application using all of the above

Career & Mindset:

• Reverse-engineering the values of the sponsor
