Our Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Software Architect, to join Thales Flight Avionics at what is an exciting time. You will play a pivotal role within the software team working across a range of technology based solutions for Civil and Military customers in the areas of airborne voice and data communication services to support cockpit and cabin; secure on-board connectivity to facilitate multiple levels of secure information exchange; and tactical mission support from planning to execution and post flight review.
As Software Architect you will be part of an integrated project team working with architects from a range of engineering disciplines and Thales UK software wider community where you will gain exposure to a broad range of Thales products across all business lines.
Key tasks/Responsibilities:
Ensure that software architecture stability is maintained across lifecycle phases from Bid to Delivery
To direct and coordinate software architecture studies
Approve the technical, technological, and methodological choices taken in respect of the selected software architecture
Guarantee adherence to in-scope standards, reuse policy and product development plans Identifies modelling, simulation and prototyping opportunities
Co-ordinates the product definition, and assessment of trade-offs between aspects of cost, customer requirements and technological possibilities
Provide knowledge on state-of-the-art software architecting, taking account of future developments
To identify and pro-actively manage project risks and ensure that risks are assessed and reported to project on a regular basis
Support project \'team building\' and share knowledge across the function and projects
Ensure that project safety and airworthiness requirements are addressed in a manner consistent with company processes
About You
Experience in software implementation and software integration on target hardware by way of tooled-up processes
Background in software verification and use of Configuration/Change Management tools
Subject expert engineer with understanding of architectural needs
Excellent at problem decomposition and thinking at higher levels of abstraction i.e. can see commonality, can generalise and can see recurring problems
Knowledge of creating software architectures to meet functional requirements and non-functional requirements (quality attributes)
Understanding of defining quality attribute scenarios, identifying the tactics to meet them and performing trade-offs between conflicting quality attributes
Experience of modelling complex software systems e.g. UML design
