AEL's Social Club is run on a fortnightly basis, to provide social and recreational opportunities and activities for individuals aged 16+, who have additional needs.
Activities include, games, craft, trips out, movie nights, cooking and so on, as agreed by members and the Co-ordinator.
Providing a safe but fun environment where members can meet new and existing friends and try new things.
The Social Club Assistant will assist the Social Club Co-Ordinator with the running and planning of the Social Club.
The post holder will be expected to work outside normal office hours to facilitate club and/or outings.
Main Duties
To assist with the planning and implementation of social club activities
Supervise social club members.
To communicate effectively and develop a rapport with members.
To assist designing and delivering social outings
To be aware of the individual members needs and abilities, whilst ensuring activities are as inclusive as possible.
To maintain a good standard of working practice- setting an example to others
To assist members to work effectively in groups, during activities provided.
To challenge any behaviour deemed unacceptable as per the group contract or that creates risk for members.
GENERAL
To provide information and support to the members to help them get the best from sessions and where possible for them to learn more about opportunities in their area.
Promote social club, where possible for the purpose of raising awareness, increasing membership and/or recruiting staff/volunteers
To actively comply with and promote all working policies and procedures.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of members whilst they are participating in activities.
To always uphold confidentiality regarding AEL's participants and businesses.
Be a representative of AEL's ethos and values to the outside world and act as a role model and mentor to other staff, volunteers, and members.
Undertake any other relevant duties commensurate with the role and responsibilities of the post as required by Senior Staff or the Trustees
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
1. At least 1 years' experience in a social/youth support worker role
2. Knowledge and experience of working with individuals with additional needs and the barriers they face.
3. Experienced in programme/activity planning.
4. Excellent communication skills both written and oral
5. Self-Motivated and Energetic
6. Confident
7. Ability to work under own initiative, including effective prioritisation of tasks and ability to work to agreed aims and objectives.
8. Ability to build rapport and adapt to member needs.
Desirable Criteria
1. Youth Work Qualification or relevant equivalent

1. This post will be subject to an Access NI Enhanced check.
2. Wages will be paid monthly by BACS.
