Working as part of the Weavers Linn care team, you will assist with the day to day provision and development of quality respite opportunities and support services for adults with learning disabilities.
You will assist in delivering a quality service that is of value to service users, maintain a safe environment and ensure best practice. You will assist with maintaining recording systems, care plans and risk assessments as part of the Co-Keyworker role and will share the daily tasks associated with the operation of the service under the direction of the person in charge. This will include delivering personal care, administering medication, handling petty cash, liaison with carers and other professionals.
It is essential you have a good value base; adapt and respond positively to service users changing needs; the ability to record daily care notes; experience of dealing with people who have learning disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. A basic understanding of their support needs would be beneficial.
You must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing, have good literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to contribute to the work of the team; work on your own initiative and be flexible, adaptable and have an interest in working with people who have a learning disability with the capacity to learn and apply new skills. You will be fully supported by senior staff in achieving a high standard of work and given the opportunity to attend relevant training courses to develop your knowledge and skills. A basic knowledge of word processing packages is also essential.
You will be required to work to a rota, over seven days, which may include early, late, sleepovers and/or night shift.
Possession of an SVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent is desirable, while the commitment and capacity to achieve this is essential.
You are required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or achieve registration within 6 months of taking up employment.
An insight regarding the purpose and aims of a respite service is desirable as is a full current driving licence.
