Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the RAI UK team as a Skills and Innovation Programme Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing relationships and communication with various stakeholders, overseeing grant administration, and effectively managing budgets related to skills development and innovation initiatives.

Responsible AI UK is a new \xc2\xa331M national centre for Responsible AI, and will provide a unique opportunity to shape and access world class research outputs and a sustained pipeline of experts trained in developing and deploying Responsible and Trustworthy AI at scale.

The Skills and Innovation Programme Manager will focus on supporting RAI UK\'s Skills Programme, which aims to translate research into skills frameworks and training for users, customers, and developers of AI, and contribute to the call for the UK AI Strategy\'s Online Academy.

This post will be offered on a full-time, fixed term contract until 31 March 2028.

Key responsibilities

Skills Programme Management:

  • Develop and implement strategies, procedures and processes for effective programme management and oversight.
  • Coordinate and oversee the planning, execution and evaluation of the programme.
  • Respond to and align the Skills Programme to other aspects and priorities of RAI UK.
  • Monitor progress, track milestones and report on outcomes to the Skills Programme academic, leadership or delivery team members.
Relationship management and communication:
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of strong relationships with RAI UK stakeholders, including educational institutions and professional bodies, government representatives, industry partners, academics, and community organisations.
  • Address inquiries, provide updates, and foster on-going collaboration.
  • Contribute to the development of clear and concise written reports, presentations or content for other communication channels.
Grant administration:
  • Prepare plans to administer grant applications and funding agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with KCL and RAI UK research and finance teams to ensure proper financial management and accountability for grant funds.
  • Prepare and review grant applications, proposals and deliverables, ensuring adherence to deadlines and commitments.
Budget management:
  • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
  • Collaborate with KCL and RAI UK research and finance teams to receive and make recommendations on regular budget reports.
Event organisation:
  • Collaborate with the Events Manager to plan and organise an annual education festival for RAI UK.
  • Assist in developing event concepts, agendas, and logistical plans.
  • Create calls for open session submission and assist in coordinating review and acceptance of open sessions.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual setup, and participant registration.
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts, ensuring our stakeholders are engaged.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria

1. Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, project management).

2. Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.

4. Proficiency in grant administration, including experience with grant applications, compliance, and financial reporting.

5. Solid understanding of budgeting and financial management principles.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.

7. Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

8. Proficiency in project management tools and software.

Desirable criteria

1. Master\'s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public administration, innovation management).

2. Experience working in the higher education, or professional skills development sector.

3. Familiarity with UKRI research funding programs and regulations.

4. Experience in managing cross-functional teams or coordinating collaborative projects.
