You will be part of the North West & Central Region (NW&C) which consist of three routes - North West, Central and West Coast South - and a regional team supporting Regional Major Programmes & Professional services.
Brief Description
In addition to your academic qualifications, you will be required to provide Ecological support to our Internal Design Team and Internal Delivery Team to assist in undertaking any due diligence they may require in order to facilitate the construction needed to accommodate smooth delivery of our work bank. This may involve dialogue with environmental regulators such as Natural England (NE), the Environment Agency (EA) the Marine management Organisation (MMO) and the Local Authority (LA). Liaising with internal and external design teams to facilitate planning and delivery of a wide variety of ecological habitat and species surveys with the ability to articulate all ecological restrictions and mitigation requirements.
You will be IT literate, able to keep updated programmes and records and have strong communication skills.

About the role (External)
\xc2\xb7 Monitor so that site activities comply with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), relevant rules, regulations, Railway Group and Network Rail\'s company standards and all applicable procedures and legislation.
\xc2\xb7 Review in conjunction with the Project Engineer, the contractor\'s method statements and site-specific risk assessments.
\xc2\xb7 Monitor by liaison with appropriate Network Rail personnel whether arrangements for access, possession, storage, worksites etc. have been made to facilitate the efficient completion of work.
\xc2\xb7 Monitor by a programme of regular pre-arranged inspections the quality of the contractor\'s work. Instruct contractors in accordance with powers delegated. Where remedial actions are required monitor so that non-conformance reports raised are closed out in an auditable manner. Direct changes as appropriate.
\xc2\xb7 Inspect completed works and survey for the readiness of portions of the work for inspection and for the recording of the outcome and the control of any remedial works required.
\xc2\xb7 Monitor, by close liaison with the contractor, whether \xe2\x80\x9cfirst off\xe2\x80\x9d examples of elements of the works are jointly inspected at an early opportunity. Agree the detailed workmanship standards for consistent application to the whole of the works.
\xc2\xb7 Monitor the contractor\'s management of site works by regular site meetings at which details of the locations of, nature of, and number of staff to be employed upon each element of the work shall be established for the period until the next meeting.
\xc2\xb7 Monitor progress of the works by regular site visits and inspections, comparing work in progress with contract documentation, and information given at site meetings and with the overall contract programme.
\xc2\xb7 Maintain a regular and frequent site presence at all worksites and to continually monitor, and correct where necessary, the standard and methods of work, being always vigilant for inadequacies. Maintain site diary as appropriate.
\xc2\xb7 Encourage an awareness of the importance of HSQE and good workmanship by regular communication with all contractors\' site staff
\xc2\xb7 Monitor and assess the competence of contractors staff prior to and during all phases of work.
\xc2\xb7 Check whether the contractor complies with Network Rail policy in accident/incident reporting and investigation, and assist with conducting investigations.
\xc2\xb7 Locally agree site records and freight haulage claims with the contractor for payment purposes.
\xc2\xb7 Provides functional support to Development Managers and Project Managers as directed.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:

\xc2\xb7 Environmental awareness.
