At AECOM, we\'re delivering a better world.
We believe infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone. Whether it\'s improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive.
Our clients trust us to bring together the best people, ideas, technical expertise and digital solutions to our work in transportation, buildings, water, the environment and new energy. We\'re one global team - 47,000 strong - driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world.
Are you an ecologist looking for a change, or an experienced consultant looking for the next step? AECOM have opportunities from Senior upwards across the country to grow their team in response to a varied portfolio of project work. Whether you prefer a balance of field work and office work, are looking for reduced hours, or are looking to largely move away from fieldwork and develop as a project manager, we can give you the platform to develop new skills and achieve your goals. We have fantastic opportunities to further your career within an established and successful business that has welfare and wellbeing as core values.
Our Ecology Team comprises 160+ ecologists across the UK and enjoys the benefits and security of a large corporation whilst working as a small close-knit ecology consultancy. Our mentorship and development programmes support our staff at every stage in their career, from graduate to Associate Director and beyond. AECOM offer a programme of internal training courses and a generous budget for external training aligned to your professional development goals, such as our in-house bat school to support people towards their licences. Our team\'s achievements and industry advancements are showcased in an annual ecology conference, with talks from our offices across the globe, including India and Australia.
AECOM\'s Freedom2Grow policy celebrates flexible working and promotes a healthy work-life balance. If it works for your client, your team and for you, it will work for AECOM, so if you are interested in joining us we would be happy to discuss a working arrangement to suit you.
At AECOM you can go as far as your ability and desire will take you. It\'s about your interests and passions. It\'s about the experiences you bring with you, and it\'s about your personal goals and aspirations. We provide you with the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse workforce of highly talented professionals on both regional and national projects that impact our world for the better - and to gain relevant experience which will be of significant benefit to you in your future career.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are seeking a Senior or Principal Ecologist to join our South West and South Wales team of 17 ecologists across Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth. Our team is a mix of home-working (we provide a work from home kit), field and office-based with most colleagues choosing to come into the office or be out on site 2-3 days a week. You\'ll have experience of a wide range of projects and may have specialist knowledge in botany, birds, bats or dormice. You\'ll also have good project management skills and report-writing skills, and an interest in line-management and upskilling.
The South West and South Wales team holds an exciting portfolio of projects, from renewable energies and habitat restoration to transport and commercial, as well as the option to support on international opportunities (for anyone looking for a bit of winter sun).
Our team is relaxed, approachable and supportive, and many of our team have been with AECOM for over 10 years. If you\'d like to find out more about us and how we work, or if you have a different role in mind (such as our specialist BNG, HRA and INNS teams), get in touch and we can arrange an informal chat.
