The College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities is a vibrant element of the University of Lincoln, which is based in the heart of this thriving, beautiful and friendly city. The College Technical Services Team is made up of over 30 highly skilled and specialist staff, who provide a wide range of services and support to students and academic staff from across the numerous schools within the College.
We are seeking a Senior Technician to work within our Conservation and Restoration laboratories, working with a large range of historic objects and supporting the Conservation programmes and students. Our successful candidate will be responsible for the line management of two staff, managing all Health and Safety, CoSHH, and radiation compliance, and the management and oversight of four laboratories. They will also be responsible for developing contacts with national, regional, and local institutions, museums, galleries, and private owners, to acquire historic objects for student projects. Accessioning objects into the department\'s system and the documentation and tracking of the practical conservation treatments carried out by students will also be part of this role.
We are looking for an individual with extensive experience in the conservation and restoration of both organic and non-organic historic items, and the use of technologies such as X-ray and 3D scanning equipment. Experience of providing technical support within a similar environment will be highly valued.
Our successful candidate will ideally be available to start work in November 2023. Full training in University policies and procedures will be given to the right candidate.
