Grade UE06: \xc2\xa331,396 - \xc2\xa336,024 per annum, pro rata (A revised salary range for this grade of \xc2\xa332,982 to \xc2\xa338,205 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024)

Part time: 14 hours per week

Fixed term: for 12 months

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Technical Officer to contribute to the development of a programme of high quality research investigating how dysfunctional endocytosis contributes to epilepsy. The post holder will support original research by maintaining colonies of transgenic mice and preparing primary neuronal cultures from these rodents.

This post is part-time (0.4 FTE). This is an on-campus role and there is no option for hybrid working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Degree in a relevant field to the research area such as cell/molecular neuroscience, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology or equivalent.
  • Experience in primary neuronal tissue culture or equivalent.
  • Ability to co-operate and contribute as part of a research team.
  • Desirable experience in genotyping.
  • Desirable experience in managing transgenic mouse colonies and associated record keeping.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing at an appropriate level.

The Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences (CDBS) explores fundamental physiological mechanisms and pathways, from single genes to complex behaviour.
