About You




We are looking for a Senior Technical Manager to join us on a fixed-term maternity cover, bringing depth of knowledge, strategic insight, and a passion for delivering homes that support thriving communities. This is a pivotal role for a confident, experienced professional ready to make a meaningful impact across the full development lifecycle--from land acquisition to site completion.


You will bring your expertise in building regulations, NHBC standards, sustainability, building services, and performance evaluation to projects that go beyond compliance--creating spaces that are safe, sustainable, inclusive, and desirable. Your technical knowledge will help shape McCarthy Stone's evolving approach to design excellence, innovation, and whole-life performance, ensuring our homes stand the test of time.


With a strong track record of delivering impactful results, you will lead on technical assurance from land acquisition through to planning approval, influence the development of new technical standards, and provide expert guidance on statutory compliance, design challenges, and innovation opportunities. You will help create buildings we can all be proud of.


Your foundation of expertise is backed by chartered or registered status in a construction-related profession--be it civil/structural engineering, architecture, or a related discipline--and a proven ability to drive high standards, manage complexity, and translate design decisions into clear cost, time, and risk implications with clarity, empathy, and purpose.

Your Impact:




As Senior Technical Manager, you will play a central role in shaping how we design and deliver homes that are technically robust, environmentally sustainable, and truly enhance community wellbeing.


You will:

Provide trusted technical input and strategic guidance across all project stages--from identifying land to full occupation. Develop and implement new technical standards, liaising with industry bodies and authorities to ensure alignment with evolving regulations and best practice. Contribute to Product Approval Boards, helping evaluate and manage the introduction of new products and technologies. Lead and maintain a network of technical advisors across key building disciplines, ensuring we access the best insight and expertise. Support benchmarking initiatives, technical audits, and the evaluation of design derogations to ensure alignment with business goals. Champion innovation, performance, and quality through collaborative engagement with stakeholders across the Group.
