Ultra Precision Control Systems are looking for a Senior Test Sustainment Engineer to join the Engineering Function. As a Senior Test Sustainment Engineer you will be responsible for the troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of internal ATE's, chambers and alternative supporting equipment. You will support the implementation of innovative technologies leading PCS towards the 'factory of the future' and digitisation (IoT).
This role will provide a test system service across the production portfolio based in Cheltenham and Ultra's Test Centre. Inside there is a varied array of test equipment ranging in complexity. Typically, this role will include skills and competences associated with technical problem solving with hardware/software, electronics, product ATP and ESS/HASS test compliance.
You will be responsible for the proving, implementation, validation and sustainment for all operational test support and infrastructure. You will ensure operations consistently fulfils customer deliveries in accordance with technical, quality and cost requirements.
You will be expected to inspire and innovate continuous improvement activities in quality, process improvement & maximise work centre utilisation & efficiency whilst minimising downtime.
Key Responsibilities:Ability to deal with the tactical test support activities as well as deliver Test Systems Strategy
Ensure forecasted weekly production, and service commitments are met to the highest levels of quality control.
Communicate effectively with the internal customers and provide technical support with Engineering on new products.
Ensure that all products are tested and shipped according to company procedures.
Aid Manufacturing & Engineering functions with investigation of faulty products.
Produce meaningful investigation reports and recommendations for improvements.
Providing regular updates to meet the needs of each customer regarding the status of the units.
Ability to define and review test requirements as part of NPI and provide financial business case justification for selected build and test strategies to support continuous improvement.
Represent operations throughout the gate review process to ensure the correct level of verification and validation is carried out ahead of accepting test equipment.
Effective planning and organising capabilities.
Required Skills & Experience:Experience in Aerospace standards (e.g., EASA Part 21, Part 145, AS9100, etc)
Experience in test solutions, digitisation and dashboard creation preferred
Electronics Engineering degree
Qualification in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools
Fault Finding and servicing knowledge.
Experience in test, fault find and identify any repairs to be undertaken on a range of test equipment to meet internal customer commitments in terms of quality and timescales.
Demonstrate a level of innovation within Manufacturing Services to assist continuous improvements and data exploitation to support FPY, test asset management, PPM and automation.
Good communication skills demonstrated both verbally and in the generation of documentation.
Self-driven and able to monitor own performance effectively to ensure commitments and deadlines are met.
Able to follow wiring diagrams.
Assembly and soldering skills.
MS Office proficient.
Methodical, conscientious and accurate worker with a strong sense of. Urgency.
Adaptable and proven problem solver.
Good communicator with all levels of staff across all departments.
Willing to learn, progress and undertake new challenges.
