We are the Exams and Assessments team. We are responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive service that is fit for purpose and evolves constantly to meet the needs of our students. This includes devising and implementing all associated business processes to ensure they are responsive and proactive, and driving a culture of service management and improvement that centres our students at the heart of the service.

We are part of the wider Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King\'s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King\'s faculties to do so.

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Senior Taught Assessments and Awards Officer to deliver professional and efficient administrative support as part of a comprehensive, professional and student-centred service. Successful candidates will be well-organised, good communicators, have administration experience and possess excellent IT skills.

These are exciting roles for colleagues looking to develop and grow their expertise in Assessment data management and gain greater insight into the management of the student journey at a large institution.

This is a full-time post, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern within our necessary service operating hours.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues in faculties and other central teams to maintain accurate, up to date Assessment records using our Student Records Management System (SITS)
  • Importing of Student Assessment data i:e both coursework and examination marks
  • Work closely with professional services and academic staff, offering guidance on the university\'s processes, procedures and the regulations, and training colleagues in their use as needed
  • Overseeing Student Lifecycle processes around assessment across the academic year, including running progression and awards for Assessment Sub Boards in academic departments
  • To manage the production and issue of all official university certificates and transcripts for undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research degree students, and the issue of all replacement certificates
  • To manage the authentication of degree certificates and transcripts, and the HEDD (education verification) process
  • Act as a standard bearer for procedure and policy, ensuring accuracy and consistency, while adhering to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules on confidentiality of personal information
  • Develop an expert knowledge of SITS and other systems required to perform the role

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria * Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in central directorates, or Faculties, where systems operations have been utilised. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training
  • Excellent IT Skills, including with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent administrative skills, including the ability to organise, and plan ahead effectively
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Knowledge of the student management systems SITS or equivalent SRS
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures and their application in a Higher Education context
  • Anticipating problems and applying proactive and innovative approaches to resolve issues
Desirable criteria * A general understanding of GDPR and the importance of the protection of personal data
  • Experience of working in Higher Education
