Are you an already experienced cardiology nurse looking to progress your career further? The CCU at St Thomas's hospital is looking for a experienced nurse to join our friendly and supportive team to assist the Charge Nurse with the co-ordination of the unit and primary PCI service for the south east of London. We admit patients via a number of different pathways for a range of cardiology conditions including acute MI, heart failure and arrhythmia management.We are comprised of six beds and care for a range of patients requiring level 2 care.You will ideally already have experience with level 2 care and be given the opportunity to develop the below skills further:

• Intra-aortic balloon pumping
• Inotrope therapy
• Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
• Invasive blood pressure monitoring
• Arrhythmia management
• Temporary pacing
• Arterial Sheath Management

The ideal candidate would have experience with shift co-ordination, experience mentoring both students and junior members of staff and hold ILS. • Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilstworking as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care.
• Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This includes history taking, physical examination and the requesting of agreed diagnostic procedures/clinical investigations.
• Responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication including transfusion of blood and blood products
• Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the speciality. To interpret information and take appropriate action and to lead others to do the same.
• Act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
