Lendable is on a mission to make consumer finance amazing: faster, cheaper and friendlier. We\xe2\x80\x99re building one of the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:
One of the UK\xe2\x80\x99s newest unicorns with a team of just over 250 people
Among the top 10 fastest-growing tech companies in the UK
Profitable since 2017
Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs
Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.8/5 across 10,000s of reviews)
So far, we\xe2\x80\x99ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers\xe2\x80\x99 hands in minutes instead of days. We\xe2\x80\x99re growing fast, and there\xe2\x80\x99s a lot more to do: we\xe2\x80\x99re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions worth of these are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.
Join us if you want to
We are seeking a Software Engineer contractor with significant expertise in working with Twilio products (primarily Flex and Studio), to join our Central Operations team, building the tooling that supports our Customer Operations functions. The consultant will work with us for 3-6 months, with potential for part-time ongoing consulting work following a successful initial period. We are investing in scaling and improving the robustness of our Operations tooling, and Twilio is one of the core systems. Whilst we have a sufficient setup now, we know that we can improve this by:
Making it easier for software engineers to build on the Twilio platform
Improving the experience for agents using Twilio, through developing our own custom plugins
Improving monitoring and oversight of the platform to proactively catch issues
Establishing an ideal system architecture that allows us to scale effectively
Team mission
We aim to build the best customer service experience in the industry. Our staff use a system that effortlessly enhances their skills, while our customers enjoy a frictionless experience in achieving their goals.
The role
Underpinning all responsibilities is the expectation that you will be future-focused, evaluating our system, recommending changes, implementing changes and training others internally. Ultimately aiming to set up Lendable\xe2\x80\x99s Twilio services to scale in line with our future ambitions, helping the wider team to be as effective as possible.
Evaluate current interactive voice response (IVR) flows in Twilio Studio to suggest improvements and efficiencies.
Assess the architecture of our Twilio Flex setup (plugins, functions, repos), focusing on how we reduce the complexity of these systems.
Ensure we are following the latest standards in Twilio, including use of the latest software versions such as Twilio Flex 2.0 and assisting in upgrading our services to this.
Develop Twilio Flex plugins to meet the needs of our customer support teams.
Establish effective CI / CD environments to speed up the development process.
Advise on how we best manage Testing and Production environments.
Advise on usage of cutting edge Twilio features and services, going on to support or lead trials of the best technology on offer in this space.
Improve observability of the platform to proactively catch issues, such as through improved automated testing or proactive alerting.
What we\'re looking for
Must have
Proven experience (5-7 years) in software engineering roles, preferably leading on projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Specific experience with Twilio Flex and Twilio Studio. Delivering using configuration, engineering, and support/training where appropriate for the needs.
Demonstrated capabilities in architectural design of overall systems, basic infrastructure, and plugin code.
Understanding of future implications to scalability when designing new, or working with existing, complex systems. Be motivated to collaborate on these challenges with technical and non-technical stakeholders, in and outside of your immediate team.
Ability to identify the critical decisions to be made, assess them collaboratively with the relevant teams, and then communicate this effectively.
Ability and motivation to train others, share knowledge and establish best practice - identifying where we have gaps and resolving or engaging others in closing them.
Strong knowledge with React 16.x + Redux, using best practices to facilitate code scalability.
Experience working with different types of tests in Twilio Flex; e.g. unit, integration, end to end\xe2\x80\xa6
Nice to have
Experience building CI + CD pipelines for Twilio (preferably using GitHub actions), to ensure a faster development cycle.
Identifying observability requirements and integrating with appropriate supportive technologies. e.g. DataDog, Sentry.
Typescript experience is beneficial but not essential.
Experience in the financial services industry and at similar size of company (~100 customer support agents).
