The team

Sitting within the Content Supply and Distribution department, ITV\xe2\x80\x99s Content Supply Technology team is a key group within ITV\xe2\x80\x99s Technology division that is responsible for the technology platforms, engineering and products that enable us to deliver ITVs famous and popular content from its multiple sources to our online platforms, to our B2B partners and to ITV\xe2\x80\x99s family of linear TV channels. We work closely with our colleagues in the ITV business teams and with our closely related operational teams who are responsible for delivering our channels and content reliably, just in time, day in-day out.

The role

Senior engineers are experienced practitioners providing expertise in both software development and their domain. They will be tasked with the design and implementation of new systems and features, as well as modify and maintain existing systems for adaptation to business and/or technology changes. To be successful as a senior software engineer, you should be able to drive software change and assist with the overall maturity of the software development lifecycle. A top-notch senior software engineer will ensure that software deliverables comply with quality standards and are completed on time. Ultimately, your goal will be to develop and maintain functional, secure and high-quality applications that are aligned with user needs and business goals.

• Serve as a technical lead contributing to and directing the efforts of development teams, including internal and external team members.
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the existing portfolio of applications and services for content supply.
• Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers to design, test, and iterate on solutions as required by the business teams.
• Mentor Software Engineers to allow for skill/knowledge development through advice, coaching, and training opportunities.
• Ability to communicate, rationalise and explain technology decisions and options to non-technical audiences.
• Work with engineering managers to aid in the growth and development of the content supply engineering function into a high performing area of excellence.
• Ensuring applications are supported by comprehensive documentation, and provide input for other technical documents.

Skills you\xe2\x80\x99ll need (minimum criteria)

• Extensive Scala experience with a passion for functional programming
• Knowledge and experience of APIs, RESTful services and Microservice Architectures.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Understands the value of continuous integration, continuous delivery and strives for a high level of automation.
• Good delegation and time management skills.
• Experience working with Agile development processes.
• Knowledge of testing techniques and strategies.
• Experience or interest in Infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code.
