Senior Scientist



Full Time - Thursday to Monday - 36 hours per week

Onsite - Wokingham

20.94 per hour PAYE

Contract until January 2026

Overview



We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scientist to join our dynamic research team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in scientific research and development, demonstrating expertise in their field. This role is pivotal in driving innovative projects and advancing our scientific capabilities. As a Senior Scientist, you will lead research initiatives, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives.

The Role



Working in Microbiology - Specialty Biopharma laboratory performs a wide range of analytical analyses for a variety of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and supports the Clients' research and innovation.

Play a key role in ensuring that projects are performed and supervised effectively and accurately within agreed timescales and to appropriate quality standards. This role focuses on routine and investigative analyses of products and potential method development and validations using techniques such as Bioburdens, Total Viable Aerobic Count, Endotoxins, Environmental Monitoring and more as required. Supervise and train junior members of the team as required.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities



Technical



Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results. Performing data review of junior staff's analyses. Perform a range of routine and investigative analysis independently and provide interpretation of results generated as required Perform method development, transfers and design validation protocols with support. Responsible for the maintenance of the instrument and lab systems including checking and approving supplier's reports (qualifications, repairs and preventative reports). Assist with technical aspects for client proposals for method development, transfers and validation protocols Be superuser in the use of equipment software , proficient at setting up reports and troubleshooting Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed. Assist with the documentation of SOPs for simple equipment and tests and generation of Risk Assessments and COSHH To understand and work to the requirements of GMP and UKAS.

Experience



Educated to Degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a laboratory. Good understanding of (include specifics) lab equipment Scientific understanding and ability to independently conduct chemical analysis in relevant area
