opportunity for a qualified Senior Residential Activity Worker to join a
STUNNING
residential children's service in Arthog, Gwynedd as a Senior Children's Support Worker.
You'll be supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 years old with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.
We are looking for a knowledgeable, committed and motivated individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of young people.
As part of our specialised 12-week Activity and Intervention programme, you will lead adventurous activities such as kayaking, mountain biking, and rock climbing while providing hands-on therapeutically-informed care to young people facing significant life challenges.

Salary: 35,360 - 36,576 with 9 sleeps a month
Arthog, Gwynedd
Contract: Full-time - Permanent
Shift pattern: 4 days and nights on shift, followed by 8 days off

Responsibilities of the Senior Residential Activity Worker:
Lead by example and support the management team to run the shift
Take greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting newer staff members
Encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives, depending on their age.
Keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
Be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
Maintain a safe environment for the young people.
Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives, such as Psychologists.
Requirements of the Senior Residential Activity Worker:
Experience as a Children's Support Worker, or with Young People, is
ESSENTIAL
Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is
ESSENTIAL
Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People
ESSENTIAL
Enjoy taking part in outdoor activities
