The Opportunity:




The CEMA & ICS business sector is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to support the CEMA Portfolio as we look to progress the growth of this portfolio area.


The role is to lead a large project within the wider CEMA & ICS Portfolio for the successful delivery of the integration of a complex Land CEMA system, utilising strong internal and external stakeholder management skills. Within this role you will lead a cross functional and cross organisation IPT to deliver the project. The project is of strategic importance within the business sector and is part of a larger programme. This role requires close liaison with all Programme Managers delivering the larger programme. Successful delivery of this project ensures the CEMA business can grow its market footprint and achieve maximum value to the ISP Line of Business. This is an exciting time for the project as it transitions from development into Validation and Verification phase.


Success for this role is achieved through effective planning and management of team performance, project schedule, cost and adherence to the Quality parameters specific to the project. The three main objectives being to ensure Customer satisfaction is high, delivery projects to Time / Cost / Quality and support the IPT to deliver growth for the CEMA portfolio.


The role is based at Leonardo's Basildon facility and requires a regular on site presence. UK Travel will also be required to both customer and supplier sites.

What you will do as a Senior PM:



Leadership of the project team to ensure successful delivery to schedule, cost and quality demonstrated through Earned Value Management techniques and controls. Co-coordinating the activities of the IPT by establishing appropriate communication mechanisms, encompassing both meetings and reporting requirements. Build and manage relationships with internal/external stakeholders to ensure all projects supported and delivered maximising customer satisfaction Establish, develop and maintain relationships with Suppliers throughout the entire lifecycle of the Project, aligned to the Sub-Contractor Management function Accountable for delivering on financial commitments. Including Ownership of ETC and Forecast forward load activities. Understand and support the delivery of the Strategy of the CEMA Portfolio and wider CEMA & ICS Sector Establish the tailored Lifecycle Management framework (Project Plans, WBS, OBS and Cost/Control Accounts) that governs the operation of the IPT Monitoring and Control of all activities and costs, defining and implementing corrective (or "recovery") actions required to tackle any deviations from the planned activities. Collate Manage and present Project performance and the IPT's activities, including active representation of the IPT at sector level contract status reviews. Organise and coordinate internal Phase/Gate Reviews, Customer reviews and supplier reviews and manage all resultant actions to closure. Close liaison with the Planning Function ensuring work package status constantly reflects current position with actual performance against planned cost and schedule being closely monitored. Conduct effective Risk and Opportunity Management, ensuring that all risks and opportunities are recorded, managed and tracked to closure. Promote a culture of best practice sharing and knowledge exploitation within the IPT. Support bid & proposal activities and customer change requests within short timescales throughout the project lifecycle.

What we need from you:



What you really must have:

Several years' experience in a similar level Project Management role or discipline Project management experience in most phases of the project execution lifecycle, including Business Winning Phases, across several projects or programmes of medium complexity, involving both engineering and manufacturing. Experience of developing and maintaining customer/ supplier relations. Experience or awareness of related functions such as Commercial, Procurement, Quality Assurance Demonstrable experience in all aspects of project planning, scheduling, work package management and cost control. Demonstrable experience of managing multi-million pound Projects as the Project lead Applies professional concepts in creative ways. Ability to influence and motivate project teams (direct/indirect management). Knowledge and awareness of Leonardo product offerings. Currently holding an SC clearance
It would be nice if you had:

Typically degree qualified in a business or engineering related discipline. Typically meets the requirements for registration as a full member of the Association for Project Managers (APM) Experience of CEMA Market Experience of Military, Security, Government or Industrial projects. PRINCE2
