Overview:
The Royal Society of Chemistry seeks a Senior Programme Manager for Inclusion and Diversity.
At the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at either our Cambridge of London office, you will also be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend our offices and travel as needed for your role. In this role you will attend our offices at least one day per week at our Cambridge office (initially more frequently to support your induction). As a Senior Programme Manager for Inclusion and Diversity for the RSC, you will be a senior member of our Global Inclusion team, and you will play a crucial role in the delivery and further development of our inclusion and diversity strategy by leading a small team working on key diversity issues facing the chemical sciences. You will lead on the delivery of projects and work with other teams throughout the organisation, including education and publishing, to embed diversity in all our external work. You will also work collaboratively with advisory groups and external committees to deliver the highest impact to our community, with responsibility for a budget of approximately \xc2\xa3500K.
What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience running complex multi-stakeholder projects and programmes, with the ability to balance commitments and priorities across several programmes.
  • Degree in science or equivalent gained, for example, through working in science or science-related programme management, publishing, or community engagement.
  • Experience of managing a team, as well as the ability to work with colleagues in a wide variety of contexts, delivering results that take into account the widest needs of the organisation.
  • Understanding of the inclusion and diversity challenges facing STEMM academic and industry sectors and of current initiatives.
  • Experience building relationships and networks, as well as developing projects and running committees involving professionals across career stages and communicating effectively with a variety of audiences and influencing people across levels and sectors.
  • Ability to make decisions, building consensus and to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, using a range of digital, written, and oral communication channels.

Desirable:
  • Experience working in a scientific organisation, industry, university or in a government setting.
  • Experience of running events and ability to facilitate workshops or discussion meetings.
