About You and this role

As a MES Analyst / OSI-PI Administrator (MES = Manufacturing Execution Systems) at Dow, Barry site UK, your role will be the part Process Automation discipline within Technical Expertise and Support (TES). TES is a multicultural and international organization, which enables you to apply your technical knowledge while learning from different cultures. Your role is based at Dow Silicones Barry site in South Wales and is one of the largest and most complex silicones sites in the world. Barry is situated less than 10 miles from Cardiff city center, which is home to Europe\'s largest waterfront development and combines the practical advantages of a small, friendly city with the cultural and recreational amenities of a successful modern capital.

You will be responsible for the support and administration of the Barry OSI-PI system. Furthermore, you will be providing support for other European locations using OSI-PI systems across the European region (Barry, Seneffe, Terneuzen and Wiesbaden). While based at Barry, you will also become involved in projects and assignments that require travel to other Dow European locations for short periods. The position also requires participation in a 24 x 7 support scheme, joining an existing global team helping to provide emergency cover for Dows\xe2\x80\x99 OSI-PI systems.

Responsibilities

Work as part of an integrated virtual team to support OSI-PI and related applications. Troubleshoot application and network issues (software and hardware) to resolve problems with the system.

Provide telephone and site support to diagnose and resolve system problems in operating chemical production units.

Test and develop new applications to support chemical manufacturing facility process information needs.

Provide training of chemical manufacturing facility operations personal (i.e. quality, safety, process control, run plant and environmental personal). Work with MES Project Leads, Manufacturing Representatives, Process Control Engineers, Environmental Engineers, and Process Safety Engineers to develop, configure and implement their OSI-PI requirements.

Hands-on work in the field is required.

Qualifications

Master degree required, preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related

Preferably 5+ years of MES/Process Automation experience. Prior experience with OSI soft PI System is a plus, knowledge of, and experience with MES systems, installations and application support work processes and services, experience with planning, scheduling and executing small projects and relates tasks

Good communication skills, ability to prioritize and able to work in high stress, time-critical work situations.

Additional Note

This role will require some on-call and after hours responsibilities. The role includes some flexibility to work from home for certain aspects of the job.
