We are now looking for a Senior Payroll Officer to join our Swansea campus on a Full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for helping to process the University\'s payroll (including subsidiaries and University of Wales), the preparation of the net pay BACS file, and for ensuring that the monthly payroll deductions payments are processed on a timely basis. Working within the payroll/expenses team.
A hands-on payroll role that supports the payroll manager in the operation of the full payroll function of the University, as such you will have a full working knowledge and experience of pensions and payroll and will act as a point of reference to others. It will be expected that you will maintain an understanding of new developments in payroll and pensions, including any current and potential implications for the University and will assist in and ensuring that the Finance Department actively responds to any such changes in a timely manner.
As this post requires a high level of data input and manipulation you will be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and IT skills (especially using Excel), founded in a strong background of numeracy and literacy. You will have a history of being able to organise your workload and work to a high standard when under pressure and with conflicting demands.
It is important that the Payroll Department and Human Resources Department work closely in operating an effective payroll process and it is expected that you will hold a close relationship with the relevant Human Resources teams as well as with external stakeholders such as pension providers, HMRC and the University auditors.
