The Senior Manager, Accounting is a key member of the Finance team responsible for management accounting, reporting, controls, treasury, audit, taxes and corporate risk management. This position will ensure finance & purchasing operations are managed appropriately to ensure accurate financial reporting and appropriate entity compliance.
Responsibilities:
Management of the financial accounting process, including ledger postings, journal entries, currency translations and revaluations and nominal and bank account reconciliations
Preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements
Management of the purchase to pay, invoicing and credit control processes and staff
Production and filing of statutory accounts and management of external audit process
Taxation, including corporation tax, R&D tax credits, transfer pricing, VAT returns, and payroll-related HMRC filings
Oversight of the purchasing operations and related staff
Corporate insurance and risk management
Ownership of accounting policies such as revenue recognition
Treasury and cash management, including banking relationship management
Responsible for internal controls required for good business practice and group audit requirements
Partner with Finance teams to ensure consistent reporting within chart of accounts
Contribute to financial analysis projects for management as required
Proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
Qualifications:
Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)
Sound understanding of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow
Sound knowledge and application of accounting standards and principles, including IFRS
Previous planning / reporting, operations analysis and budget / forecasting experience
Strong MS Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables
Confidence to challenge the status quo with a view to process improvement
Previous leadership of a team
Resilience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and absorb pressure when necessary
High standards of accuracy and precision
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
Educated to degree level
Advanced MS Excel skills, including building macros and VBA programming
Previous hands-on experience of ERP system
Purchasing and negotiating skills
