As a Senior Legal Counsel within the Procurement team, you will join us on a journey and undertake a highly visible role responsible for managing legal risks within the Post Office. The Legal Department is responsible for managing all aspects of legal risk, identifying, and solving strategic and operational legal issues and providing understandable, accurate and timely advice (often with short deadlines and limited resource) to the business on a very wide - ranging and changing set of complex issues, many of which be novel. A critical part of the role will be to work proactively with stakeholders to ensure that legal input is obtained on all relevant projects and other matters. The role requires an ability to identify and solve strategic and operational legal issues and provide understandable, accurate and timely advice to the business on a very wide ranging and changing set of complex issues. Consequently, the role will require you to demonstrate significant specialist legal expertise, relevant to the industry sector you support and leadership behaviours whilst working closely alongside the Head of Legal and other senior leaders.

The role offers you an exciting opportunity to be part of the IT transformation at the Post Office and advise on core and strategic contracts including aspects of service performance, contract enforcement and negotiation.

What you\'ll need to succeed
You will be passionate about joining a legal team that is part of a transformation and managing all aspects of legal risk, as well as identifying and solving strategic and operational legal issues you will be:
Experienced UK qualified lawyer in an in house or at a top 100 law firm
Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to synthesise and clearly present complex legal matters/risk for senior & management.
Public Sector Procurement Experience and working knowledge of data protection law & GDPR
Experience dealing with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders
Ability to translate complex legal and compliance requirements into practical workable solutions for the business.
Possess first-class communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate.
