About the Role

In this role you will get the opportunity to work on a variety of areas and tasks in a supportive and collaborative environment. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will have responsibility for ensuring effective provision of sound, pragmatic and business-focused legal advice on the full spectrum of employment law issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strong experience of providing sound, pragmatic and business focused legal advice on a range of both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters at senior level.
  • Substantial experience of litigation across different jurisdictions including in employment tribunals, the County Court and High Court. This will include responding to claim forms, giving written and verbal advice on prospects of success, analysing and appreciating risk, responding to claims, preparing disclosure and trial bundles. instructing external counsel, preparing pleadings and drafting witness statements as well as ensuring that witnesses are adequately prepared and attending final hearings.
  • A track record of picking up new and complex areas of legal work quickly and providing context-appropriate legal advice in high-profile and fast-moving environment.
  • Supporting HR with advice on grievances, disciplinaries, dismissals, appeals, redundancies & change management, recruitment, contracts of employment, termination agreements, restrictive covenants, equality, diversity & inclusion matters and employee data protection issues.
  • Contribute to the preparation and updating of internal policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to influence and work collaboratively.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and effectively prioritising and managing competing demands.
Desirable (But not a prerequisite to apply!)
  • Experience in house (either in a permanent role or on a secondment).
Professional Qualifications
  • Qualified to practise as a Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive in England and Wales and 4+ years minimum PQE in employment law.

Due to the nature of this role, we require you to be eligible to achieve SC or DV clearance. As a result, you should be a British Citizen and have resided in the U.K. for the last 5 years or 10 years or DV Clearance.
