Duration of Contract: Fixed Term (12-month contract)

Salary: UH8 \xc2\xa344,263pa to \xc2\xa356,021pa

Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

We are seeking a motivated, committed, and proactive lecturer with expertise in microbiology to join our existing Bioscience team and contribute to the ongoing development of this group.

The Bioscience, Agriculture, Nutrition & Dietetics (BAND) team is part of the Department of Clinical, Pharmaceutical, and Biological Sciences which focuses on some of life sciences\' most exciting and rapidly evolving disciplines. The Department is active in research, consultancy, and training with strong links to education and commerce worldwide.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will work within the BAND Subject Group in developing and delivering existing undergraduate and postgraduate modules on degree programmes within the School of Life and Medical Sciences. The teaching contribution is flexible but the successful candidate will be primarily involved in teaching bacteriology on the MSc programmes, with particular focus on medical microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, identification of pathogens, bacteriophage biology and OneHealth.

You will also be required to engage in other forms of scholarly activity depending upon your interests that could include conducting research in biomedicine contributing to the school\'s research output; developing curricula, and/or involvement in commercial activities for the School.

Skills and Experience

You will have teaching, professional and/or research experience within biosciences, plus a good research track record in a relevant discipline. Experience in teaching in higher education would be an advantage.

Qualifications Required

Minimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline. Postgraduate qualification, i.e. Masters and/or PhD (completed or close to completion, e.g. has submitted final thesis) in a relevant field or significant experience, or an appropriate qualification at first degree.
