Job Description

A highly innovative start-up business operating within the energy storage market space is currently recruiting for a Senior Lab Technician to join its team, based in Central London. As Senior Lab Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the R&D & Engineering teams working on redox flow battery technology whilst taking on other key responsibilities including equipment maintenance, managing H&S policies and ordering raw materials.

This role has a view to grow naturally into a Lab Manager, ideally within 12 months. The ideal candidate will possess a degree-level qualification in Chemistry (or closely related) coupled with industrial lab experience - ideally in an R&D setting.

Senior Lab Technician responsibilities

• Support R&D team in daily routine tasks including blending, testing and collecting technical data - which will then be reported back to management.
• Ordering raw materials and ensuring current product levels are maintained.
• Ensuring H&S is at the forefront of all laboratory operations.
• Conduct and analyse experiments.
• Operate in line with health and safety practices within the laboratory.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers, and external partners.
• Produce technical reports and can relay across to key stakeholders.
• Assist with designing test equipment when required.

Senior Lab Technician requirements

• Degree qualification in Chemistry, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering
• Experience operating as a Laboratory Technician/Chemist within an industrial chemistry environment. Ideally working within an R&D Laboratory.
• Hands-on approach when it comes to equipment maintenance and calidbration.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to relay technical data/information to key stakeholders.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative.
• Some experience managing H&S policies and implementing them into the workplace.
