About The RoleFDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Java Engineer to work for our client within the retail sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.As a Senior Java Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Java-based applications, with a strong focus on Azure deployments. As a senior team member, you will mentor junior developers, ensure best coding practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deploy high-performance Java applications
  • Lead the architecture and development of complex software solutions
  • Optimise and enhance existing Java-based applications for better performance and scalability
  • Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews to maintain code quality
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver robust solutions
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and production issues
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain applications on Microsoft Azure
  • Utilize Azure services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Service, Azure Functions, and Azure DevOps
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions
