Role description

Credit Risk Technology (CRT), a division of Risk, Finance and Treasury Technology (RFT), is the primary technology partner to the Credit Risk Management division of Deutsche Bank.

As a senior Java Engineer, your deliverables will require you to work as part of a cross-functional agile delivery team, as well as giving guidance, consultancy and direction to other feature teams and technical leadership.

You will bring an innovative approach to software development, focusing on using the latest technologies and practices, as part of a relentless focus on business value. You will be someone who sees engineering as team activity, with a predisposition to open code, open discussion and creating a supportive, collaborative environment. You will be ready to contribute to all stages of software delivery, from initial analysis right through to production support.

Your key responsibilities

• Work as part of a delivery team, collaborating with others to understand requirements, analyse and refine stories, design, implement & test solutions.
• Deliver applications and frameworks that are modular, performant, tested, documented and meeting current development best practices.
• Build testable software, and unit & end-to-end test suites to validate the software you built. Reduce defects in your product and ensure other developers can refactor your code with confidence.
• Build for reuse. Where an existing solution does not exist, write code which is generic, modular, tested, documented and packaged for other developers.
• Mentor and educate junior developers in development best practices. Help create a culture of learning and continuous improvement. Build and participate in the wider developer community.
• Help your team to build, test and release software within short lead times and with minimum of waste. Work to develop and maintain a highly automated Continuous Delivery pipeline.

Your skills and experience

• Deep technical knowledge of full stack development of enterprise grade systems specializing in Java, with experience of working with multi-terabyte data warehouses.
• Proven track record in delivering complex Risk or Investment Banking technical solutions
• Excellent work ethic, taking ownership of problems and seeing them through to resolution
• Ability to work in virtual teams and matrixed organizations
• Ability to commit and prioritize work duties and tasks in a dynamic, fast paced environment
• Ability to transfer knowledge and expertise to team members, and communicate with management, technologists and senior stakeholders
