Description and requirementsThe Internal Audit function at Skanska is pivotal in ensuring robust risk management, control mechanisms, and governance processes. This independent and objective assurance activity not only adds value but also plays a crucial role in improving organizational operations. The mission of Internal Audit is to support Skanska in achieving its objectives through systematic evaluation and improvement initiatives.As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will be part of the Group Function Internal Audit Europe team and will be entrusted with planning and leading internal audit assignments within assigned Skanska Business Units as per the audit plan.What you'll do:

  • Audit Leadership: Lead and execute comprehensive audit assignments according to the defined audit plan.
  • Evaluation & Assessment: Critically evaluate internal reporting systems, control environments, risk management practices, and process frameworks.
  • Issue Identification: Proactively identify compliance issues, process weaknesses, fraud risks; provide practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Annual Planning: Contribute valuable insights towards developing the annual audit plan; support feedback mechanisms with Business Units.
  • Documentation Management: Ensure meticulous documentation of all audit activities; maintain updated logs regularly.
  • Team Development: Participate actively in evolving internal audit team practices; contribute to refining work methods for enhanced efficiency.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • Several years of experience within finance, Accounting or Commercial with an operational track record such as business or project controller roles or specialist positions in financial support units. A relevant experience can also be from a senior leading role within Skanska's project operations.
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or a technical discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong ability to interview project staff effectively; analyse project-related issues comprehensively understanding controls and risks involved.
  • Proven experience from / high level interpersonal skills in collaborating with senior management while maintaining a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint coupled with experience operating multiple computer systems seamlessly.
  • Analytical prowess complemented by excellent written/verbal communication abilities interpersonal skills relationship-building capabilities.
  • Critical thinking acumen, enabling problem-solving, drawing conclusions from raw data, independently operating under minimal supervision, building trust, and maintaining positive working relationships with project management executives.
Location & Travel Requirements: This position is based at Skanska UK head office located in Leavesden and will be hybrid working role.
