Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented
Home Automation Engineer
to join our growing team. You will be responsible for the
installation, termination, commissioning, and servicing
of smart home systems, including AV racks, lighting control, and integrated automation platforms.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with
Control4
,
Crestron
, and
Lutron
, and take pride in high standards of craftsmanship and client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and commission smart home systems including Control4, Crestron, and Lutron
Rack build and installation (structured, tidy, labelled, and documented)
Termination and testing of low-voltage cabling (CAT6, speaker wire, coax, fibre etc.)
Mounting and integrating AV equipment, touchscreens, keypads, speakers, and sensors
Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and contractors on-site to deliver works to spec
Perform system updates, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
Maintain site records, including red-lining drawings and updating documentation
Represent Hestia on-site in a professional and courteous manner
Essential Skills & Experience:
3+ years of experience in AV / home automation installation
Hands-on experience with
Control4
,
Crestron
, and
Lutron
(at least two of the three essential)
Strong understanding of AV distribution, lighting control, networking, and integration principles
Comfortable reading and working from technical schematics and wiring schedules
Skilled in cable termination and testing (RJ45, speaker, coax, fibre preferred)
Familiar with rack building best practices and neat cable management
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites
Desirable:
Control4, Crestron, or Lutron certifications
Basic programming or configuration knowledge
Experience working in luxury residential environments
ECS / CSCS card (or ability to obtain)
PASMA/IPAF/Working at Height certifications
