Job Description

Communicate complex and contentious information to a wide range of managers and staff at all levels of the organisation, e.g. explaining Terms and Conditions, advising on misconduct, Dignity at Work and performance issues, Right to Work in the UK queries, attendance management and organisational change. Autonomously manage individual cases adhering to Trust and HR policies and legislation. Interpret and analyse individual rights and responsibilities which fall outside the parameters of Trust policies and require the interpretation and application of employment law.



The post holder will assess the risks, legal and moral implications and financial impact when making decisions regarding casework, e.g. misconduct matters and termination of employment contracts, and advise these to the manager where it is necessary to act outside of these parameters. Advise managers on the procedural or legal implications of their decisions at any meetings where there are concerns raised by or about staff, including (but not limited to) misconduct, grievance, capability and appeal hearings, including those decisions which could result in dismissal. Coach, support and advise managers regarding investigation meetings and practices.



Support managers to prepare letters and notes of meetings, to communicate complex and sensitive issues. Complete required logging systems in a timely manner to ensure reporting requirements are met in line with departmental and Trust guidance, and to reflect accurate HR information. The post holder will access confidential personnel and payroll data systems in accordance with departmental and Trust Policies, and be involved in the preparation, analysis, interpretation and reporting of appropriate Human Resources management information. Write and update HR policies, toolkits and management guidance for organisational wide application.



Provide training, coaching and advice to managers on the implementation of new policies and procedures, and write and present training programmes for managers and staff. This could include presentations, workshops and formal training events based upon HR policies or ad hoc issues.
