Overview of the role and responsibilities
Working as a Senior Associate at the Equality and Human Rights Commission, this is a Senior Finance Officer role, this post is responsible for the effective and efficient day to day management of our accounting operations function ensuring the provision of a high-quality customer-focused service to the Commission.
Working in the Commission\'s finance team based in our Manchester office, you will undertake a wide range of activities, as set out below.
You will need to fulfil this role in a way that is in keeping with our values of fairness, dignity and respect, and display a high degree of flexibility, accountability and initiative.
You will:
manage the Commission\'s Purchase to Pay system and purchase ledger including weekly payment runs; ensuring that all transactions comply with Government regulations.
co-ordinate the monthly payroll process, reviewing trial reports to ensure accuracy.
maintain a robust but proportionate control environment, explaining finance processes to non-finance staff, providing training and ensuring compliance with organisational and government policy.
manage the sales ledger, income processing and banking, including monthly reconciliations, such as procurement card and bank reconciliations;
report on the Commission\'s spend and performance as required.
assist in administering the finance system (e.g., setting up new suppliers or cost centre codes, adding new users).
line and task manage one colleague within the accounts payable function in the team.
lead on cash flow forecasting in liaison with Financial Control colleagues and Finance Business Partners to assist with monthly cash forecasting requirements.
lead on monthly fixed asset movement journals.
lead on maintaining the fixed asset register.
support Senior Associate and Head of Finance on interim and final accounts audit work.
