Following the appointment of a new senior leadership team in Finance we are expanding and adapting to create a supportive team that will help deliver the ambitious Housing programme within the financial framework.
The Senior Finance Officer will report to the Finance Manager and provide high quality and comprehensive finance support to the Housing Service. You will provide technical expertise, knowledge and experience to add value and lead on the resolution of challenges and actively champion continuous improvements in automation and efficient ways of working.
- Leading on specific service items including reviewing and challenging budget decisions, supporting capital and revenue financial planning and providing financial activity support to services across the Council
- Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the Housing service and the related objectives, and be informed of their risks, challenges and the impact of regulatory, financial and other changes
- Taking ownership of financial management processes to ensure all officers are appropriately trained able to carry out these processes in a consistent and efficient manner
- Carry out all accountabilities in compliance with the Council\'s Policies and Procedures
- Maintaining a comprehensive and up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation, procedures and current and emerging best practice for the area of responsibility and ensure that the organisation meets all of its statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations
To be suitable for the role you need to be a qualified accountant or part qualified and actively studying for such a qualification, with experience of working with a finance related role ideally in a local government environment. Exposure to supporting change, excellent communication and IT skills are also essential.
Enfield offers a hybrid working arrangement, with an expectation that staff will be in the office at least once a week.
