Sector: Building Services DesignAbout the Role:An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading SME consultancy based in Fareham, Hampshire. The role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, with a focus on delivering high-quality building services design for education and residential projects. This is an outside IR35 contract role, ideal for an experienced professional seeking a dynamic and rewarding challenge.As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of electrical design on key projects, ensuring that designs are efficient, sustainable, and aligned with the clients vision. You will work alongside a team of professionals, liaising with clients, contractors, and internal design teams, to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions.Key Responsibilities:

• Electrical Design: Lead the electrical design aspects of building services projects for education and residential sectors.
• Project Management: Take ownership of multiple projects, managing timelines, resources, and budgets effectively to meet project goals.
• Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to understand their requirements, providing technical expertise and design solutions.
• Technical Leadership: Guide junior engineers and design team members, ensuring high-quality delivery and adherence to industry standards.
• Documentation & Compliance: Produce detailed electrical design drawings, specifications, and calculations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Collaboration: Work alongside multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with mechanical, structural, and architectural engineers to deliver fully integrated designs.
• Site Liaison: Attend site meetings and provide technical support during the construction phase to ensure designs are being correctly implemented.
• Sustainability Focus: Incorporate sustainable design solutions and energy-efficient systems into electrical designs where possible.
• Quality Control: Ensure all designs are checked, reviewed, and meet the quality standards set by the company and relevant industry guidelines.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Electrical Design Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design within the building services sector, specifically for education and residential projects.
• Qualifications: A degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm systems, and data/telecommunications.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Amtech or similar for electrical design.
• Project Delivery: Proven track record of delivering projects from concept to completion, including preparation of tender documentation, specifications, and construction phase support.
• Knowledge of Regulations: Strong understanding of relevant UK standards, including the IET Wiring Regulations (17th/18th Edition), and the ability to design in compliance with building regulations.
• Client Facing: Ability to manage client relationships and understand their needs while providing effective design solutions.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Driving Licence: A valid driving licence for occasional site visits (mileage covered).
