Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Senior DevOps Engineer to join our client\xe2\x80\x99s team. Our client is a \xe2\x80\x98pure play\xe2\x80\x99 specialist provider of aggregated, structured regulatory information using deep tech to generate rich metadata from regulatory content for use in applications managing regulatory risk.

Key Responsibilities

• You\xe2\x80\x99re conscientious and proactive, paying attention to detail and mitigating difficulties before they become issues
• You\xe2\x80\x99ll have several years of experience operating production infrastructure in the cloud, ideally on AWS
• You know your way around a Kubernetes cluster, with a history of maintaining production workloads and writing Helm charts to deploy applications
• Can write your own code, e.g. as tooling to solve specific problems or a personal project. We don\xe2\x80\x99t expect a fully-fledged programmer but there\xe2\x80\x99s a \xe2\x80\x98dev\xe2\x80\x99 in DevOps.
• You\xe2\x80\x99re used to working on sizeable architectures in an infrastructure-as-code paradigm, knowing the pitfalls and how to work around them. Bonus points if you can show us a Terraform module you\xe2\x80\x99ve written, or better yet a provider.
• You know infrastructure doesn\xe2\x80\x99t exist in isolation \xe2\x80\x93 although a discipline of its own it needs to serve the wider organisation. You are comfortable working cross-functionally and often advocate for better tools or processes
• You see documentation as a first-class product of the job. There\xe2\x80\x99s little point in building something if others can\xe2\x80\x99t use it without our help.
• You\xe2\x80\x99re outcome-orientated. You\xe2\x80\x99ll take satisfaction from seeing the results of your work in the hands of internal stakeholders and external users.
• You\xe2\x80\x99ll get to work on wide-ranging areas \xe2\x80\x93 anything from debugging Python to recommending high-throughput AWS architectures for ML and batch processing
• You\xe2\x80\x99ll work cross-functionally, joining daily stand-ups with representatives from software, data science, web crawling, and quality assurance teams
• You\xe2\x80\x99ll plan & execute maintenance tasks such as upgrading our EKS cluster, or cloud backups as part of our DR procedures

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus and DataDog
• Experience with Typescript
• An interest in the real-world application of information extraction and retrieval, and Natural Language Processing.
• Enthusiasm for developing your skills and experience in the context of a growing start-up.
• Excellent communication skills
• Must have a laptop or desktop that meets the minimum qualifications (which connects via LAN or Ethernet cable):

• High-Speed Internet Access / Bandwidth Requirements Minimum:

• Download Speed: at least 10 Mbps
• Upload Speed: at least 10 Mbps
• Must have a corded headset / Webcam and a Backup device for outages.
• Must have a quiet, private place in your home where you can work without background noise.
• Must be proficient in Computer Literacy.
