Senior Dev Ops Engineer

Location: Luton/Hybrid

The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure which runs our data pipelines as well as applications for data science & analytics. As a specialist in managing and optimizing data-related DevOps processes, they will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development, deployment, and monitoring of data-intensive applications. The ideal candidate has a strong background in DevOps principles, operating systems and AWS cloud technologies

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll need to do the role
\xe2\xa6\x81 Implement and optimize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for deploying data processing infrastructure.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers to understand their requirements and provide infrastructure solutions that support their needs.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Build and maintain tools for automating data operations, including data ingestion, transformation, storage, and retrieval.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Implement and manage monitoring and alerting systems for data pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and data quality.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize data processing workflows for scalability and efficiency.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Monitor the cloud infrastructure for security vulnerabilities and take actions to prevent any unauthorized access

Qualifications

Key Skills/experience

\xe2\xa6\x81 Demonstrable experience as a Senior DevOps Engineer or Senior Data Engineer, with a focus on managing data-related infrastructure and processes.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, or Google Cloud, and proficient in managing data services and infrastructure in a cloud environment.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Familiarity with Unix based environment and comfortable with shell-scripting.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles and experience with tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and experience with automation and configuration management tools.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Practical hands-on experience in building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or a similar framework
\xe2\xa6\x81 Strong background in networking which includes setting up ACLs, Gateways and security groups to conform to organizational policies and best practices for security in cloud computing
\xe2\xa6\x81 Experience in implementing Identity and Access Management in any public cloud environment

Desirable Skills/experience

\xe2\xa6\x81 Certification in cloud platforms or relevant DevOps certifications
\xe2\xa6\x81 Experience Building Databricks environment is a plus
\xe2\xa6\x81 Experience with MLOps and managing infrastructure for ML model training and deployment.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Familiarity with data governance, data privacy, and compliance regulations
