Senior Developer
Glasgow Campus, Glasgow

As a Barclays Senior Developer, you will contribute to the development of world class leading customer and colleague facing web applications to support all Wealth Investments customer and colleague journeys based on a service-oriented architecture. You will be working on complex technical problems that will involve detailed analytical skills and analysis. You will be doing this in collaboration with other engineers, business analysts and business stakeholders.

Hybrid Working
We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We\xe2\x80\x99re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. What will you be doing?

• Implementing quality code and caring about the elegance of solutions they build
• Participating in planning, analysis and design sessions for new features to be developed
• Working closely with the Business to take a requirement through to technical design and coding
• Producing unit and integration tests to ensure future changes can be made with confidence and to verify that we are not breaking existing behavior
• Helping drive continuous improvement and fast iterate delivery
• Providing 3rd line support in investigating production issues and providing resolution
• Working as a collaborative team member
• Leading a development team as a hands-on developer and mentor junior developers

What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:

• Experience with Java
• Confidence in using Unit Testing/ Automated Testing
• Knowledge of Spring Boot
• Experience with REST

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Knowledge of TDD / BDD engineering techniques
• Cloud platforms such as AWS or Openshift etc
• Knowledge of messaging formats such as Json, XML etc
• Knowledge of Angular or React / JavaScript
