Senior Data Engineer

to become a key player in our innovative and dynamic squad in Data Services.

Key Responsibilities





Manage relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL and Oracle, ensuring high performance and reliability. Implement CI/CD pipelines and build resources in AWS using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to support our data infrastructure, with a strong focus on automation. Investigate and resolve database performance issues promptly, minimising downtime and disruptions. Lead projects that cross squad boundaries, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery. Mentor engineers within the squad, providing technical knowledge transfer sessions and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Research and introduce new products and tools to enhance our data engineering capabilities. Apply good engineering practices and maintain a continuous improvement mindset towards the products you manage. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, demonstrating excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Operate within Agile methodologies to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise





Highly proficient in managing relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL and Oracle. Skilled in SQL and query optimisation. Proven experience with AWS. Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD). Experience with automation pipelines and testing tools. Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash. Familiarity with Agile methodologies. Achieved AWS certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, Data Engineer, or Solutions Architect. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant industry experience.
