Role: Senior Credit Controller

Location: Blackburn, BB1 2FA - Office Based

Hours: Full Time / Permanent

Salary: \xc2\xa335,000+ (circa) & Bonus Scheme

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Credit Controller to join our Transaction Shared Service centre located at our Waterside Head Office in Blackburn.

As the Senior Credit Controller you will be a key asset in helping to shape the Credit Control team and help provide essential support to the finance department on our business\' journey of continuous improvement and growth.

You will be responsible for supporting the Credit Manager and team of Credit Controllers whilst also providing support to the wider Accounts Receivable team to help maximise cash collection, minimise risk and exceed KPI\'s, ensuring all debts for new and existing customers are collected in line with the company\'s policies and the payment terms agreed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage your own portfolio of accounts, ensuring outstanding debts are collected in line with company policy
• Ensure a proactive approach to collecting outstanding debt is maintained to meet collection targets, keep accurate records on chasing and payment promises
• Manage and monitor new customer accounts set up, including the setting and controlling of credit limits
• Review and analyse aged debt against defined targets, driving continuous improvement in the number of days debts remaining overdue
• Identify problem debts that require escalation and liaise with Credit Manager and country teams.
• Monitor unpaid direct debits and provide daily and weekly reporting to internal customers for action
• Preparation of monthly reconciliation of trade debtors, bad debts provision and bad debt reports
• Support, train and develop team members including management of team in absence of Credit Manager
• Build strong working relationships with external customers and internal customers, in particular Regional and Area Sales Managers
• Work in collaboration with operational teams across the Group
• Initiate legal action against debtors
• Resolution of any queries including timely escalation of issues

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience working within Credit Control with an ability to demonstrate delivery
• Experience of coaching and training team members
• Knowledge of credit control toolkits and policies
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Great attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
• Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
• Experience in using accounting systems, SAP would be an advantage
• Proactive with excellent time management and organisational skills
• Ability to work using own initiative
