Job Description


This role sits within the Entity Data and Contracts (\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x9cEDC\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x9d) function within CME\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s Global Operations division. The senior analyst undertakes the day to management and operational activities related to customer contractual agreements and legal documentation covering the electronic and post trade business services and overall customer contract management lifecycle processes. The role will involve working within the Contracts Team under the supervision of the EDC Director working very closely with the EDC\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s Entity Data team and collaborating closely with CME\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s legal and compliance functions as well as other areas within CME\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s Global Market Solutions & Services (\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x9cGMSS\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x9d) division as part of the legal and regulatory onboarding requirements of customers to CME Group.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Negotiate standard legal contractual terms with potential and existing customers in line with the parameters set by CME\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s Legal counsel, including drafting any ad-hoc legal terms, amendments and/or schedules as required as part of the legal and regulatory customer on-boarding process.
  • Creation, drafting (including ad-hoc legal terms), distribution, and execution of all customer contractual agreements and other customer related legal documentation, side letters and addendums either in paper or electronic format.
  • Process contract management maintenance activities accurately, efficiently and effectively, ensuring contractual governance standards are maintained in accordance with the regulatory obligations and legal contractual parameters set by CME\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s Legal and Compliance functions.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and contract due diligence to ensure all pre-requisite legal, jurisdictional and regulatory suitability assessments are fulfilled and satisfied prior to providing contractual approvals as part the legal and regulatory onboarding of customers to CME Group.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with CME\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s Legal and Compliance functions and various other operational and cross functional teams within CME Group to resolve customer contract related queries in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Maintain and update customer contract procedures, system controls and undertake periodic assessments of the end-to-end contract management lifecycle processes and controls to ensure continued compliance with legal and regulatory obligations and proactively recommend improvements and efficiencies.
  • Effectively manage customer contract change control procedures (new subscriptions, name changes, mergers & acquisitions etc.) including the provision and approval of any applicable customer contract documentation across CMOS\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s services.
  • Effectively manage the electronic and physical contract and other legal documentation repositories, including diligently analyzing and recording of key contractual information within various internal onboarding systems and workflow management tools / applications.
Skills and Software Requirements:
  • Experience of negotiating legal / contractual terms in a professional setting.
  • A minimum of 2 years strong paralegal working experience, including working with management of legal and contractual documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and the ability to learn new software / systems quickly.
  • Demonstrated time management skills including ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to overcome language and cultural barriers.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of working within a team.
  • Experience of working with both internal and external stakeholders
