The BIL neurorehabilitation service is provided in seven prison and probation establishments across England and Wales and is currently expanding to work in the Northwest of England. This is a remote working position with travel to services as required. The post holder will have clinical and research responsibilities, primarily supervising our linkworkers and supporting the wider team to develop the service. The role is supervised by the consultant clinical neuropsychologist and works closely with the BIL project manager to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the service. It is located in the Policy and Social Change Team within Brainkind, which is committed to making sure brain injury rehabilitation is accessible to all.For an insight into our service see: this link. Please note Brainkind was formally The Disabilities Trust.Main duties of the jobMAIN PURPOSE:To work as a key member of the Brain Injury Linkworker Service clinical team, providing clinical psychology and neuropsychological supervision to the brain injury linkworkers, who deliver neurorehabiltation to people in prison and on probation. You will also be involved in delivering brain injury awareness training to HMPPS staff and liaising with a range of different professionals.   • To provide specialist psychological/neuropsychological supervision to the brain injury linkworkers.
  • To formulate and implement (via the linkworkers) plans of specialist psychological and/ or neuropsychological intervention to support the neurorehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury in prison and on probation, based on current evidence-based best practice.
  • Through supervision to elicit personal goals from service users and translate this to specific, measurable, achievable, relevant timed SMART goals to inform BIL interventions.
  • Through supervision of the linkworker to plan the delivery of a range of psychological therapeutic and rehabilitation interventions, drawing on a range of psychological models and employing a range of modalities adapted and tailored to the needs of the individual and the context and ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of the intervention.
  • Through supervision of the linkworker and online consultation clinics to contribute specialist psychological advice to the multi/inter disciplinary formulation, appropriate therapeutic approaches or intervention plans, and be involved in, or oversee specialist psychological aspects of their implementation in collaborations with other staff.
  • To be responsible for maintaining a high standard of clinical record keeping in accordance with Brainkind, professional and national standards for Health Care records.

  • ABOUT YOU:
  • Degree in Psychology, accepted by BPS for Graduate Basis Registration (GBR) or equivalent
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (BPS accredited) or its equivalent to meet requirements to register as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to the service user group.
  • Relevant experience in producing clinical reports
  • Ability to research, analyse and manage complex multi-factorial clinical information from a range of sources
  • Ability to integrate complex multi-factorial clinical information into a formulation, utilising a variety of psychological perspectives
  • Resilient with the ability to work with unpredictable service users i.e. demanding, verbally and physically aggressive
