Accountabilities/ Responsibilities of the role:
Practitioner duties
1. To identify and meet the care, support and learning needs of service users and contribute to the development and quality assurance of informal learning activities and of the service.
2. Supervise the service users effectively at the service, during outings and trips and during escorting of service users from place of education to the service. Be aware of and be responsible for the safety and security of service users. Take day to day responsibility with the team to ensure the service users have consistent good care.

4. Manage personal day-to-day work profile in keeping with service demands, within agreed timescales and as directed by the Senior Practitioner and Service Manager.
5. Maintain confidential records within an effective filing system, working closely & liaising with the service management team as appropriate. Ensure effective communication of service user's individual care needs within the team, reporting to the Senior Practitioner and/ or Service Manager as appropriate.
6. Liaise effectively with service user's caregivers and encourage care-giver involvement.
7. Ensure that all work carried out within your area of responsibility meets the requirements and needs of the Health and Social care standards, SSSC codes of practice and PVG Disclosure Scotland.
8. Undertake annual training and CPD.
Supervisory duties
1. Manage service day to day work profile in keeping with service demands, within agreed timescales and as directed by the Service Manager and Deputy Service Manager.
2. Support and supervise the Practitioner team in the service day to day work profile.
3. Work alongside the Deputy Service Manager to facilitate an effective and suitable key worker system for each child within the service.
4. Work alongside the Service Management team and Practitioner team to ensure any issues or concerns within the service are addressed quickly and effectively.
5. Use effective communication with the Service Management team, Practitioner team, Parents and Carers using the service.
6. Ensuring that all child pick-ups are covered on a daily/ weekly basis.
7. Oversee the preparation and delivery of the daily program of activities.
8. Contribute to the service strategic plan with management.
9. Any other duties deemed necessary by the Service Manager and Deputy Service Manager.

Main purpose of the role:
The main purpose of this role is to provide and contribute to, and to supervise the Practitioner team in the provision of care services to an agreed specification and quality standards. The role will require a minimum of day-to-day supervision from the service Management team, but clear guidance will be given. Initiative is needed to resolve problems based on judgement and experience, mainly without reference to others.
