The City Surveyor's Operations Division is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of construction, maintenance and professional property services for the City of London Corporation's commercial and operational property portfolio in the City, West End and other areas of London as well as open spaces such as Epping Forest, Hampstead Heath and Burnham Beeches.

Are you a proactive, solution-focused professional with a strong background in building surveying and project management? The City of London Corporation is seeking 2 experienced Senior Building Surveyor to support the delivery of vital capital and revenue works across our diverse property portfolio.

Working alongside the Senior Principal Building Surveyor, you'll play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of building projects--ensuring historic and modern buildings across the Square Mile are maintained, restored, and developed to the highest standards.

What you'll be doing:


Delivering a wide variety of projects, including complex refurbishments and conservation works, across residential, commercial, and public buildings. Developing feasibility reports, cost estimates, and technical specifications. Liaising with stakeholders across departments, external bodies, consultants, and contractors. Managing tenders, contracts, and on-site works from inception to completion. Preparing condition surveys, structural assessments, and schedules of dilapidations. Ensuring compliance with planning regulations, health and safety legislation, and internal financial controls. Leading on risk assessments, contract documentation, and performance evaluation.

About you:



You have significant experience in building surveying or a similar discipline, ideally with chartered status (MRICS or working towards it). Strong understanding of construction, project planning, and relevant statutory requirements. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Able to manage multiple projects with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset. Familiar with public sector or local authority processes (desirable).
