The Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions

About the role

This role requires technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and expertise in advanced BI technologies (including cloud technologies like Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview) to drive UCL's data modelling, governance, and analytics capabilities forward.
As the Senior BI Analyst Developer you will get the opportunity to lead end-to-end BI solution development, including data modeling, ETL, analytics, and reporting. In tandem, you will act as a technical expert in data modeling, data integration, and data governance, ensuring high-quality data for decision-making
Equally important is liaising with senior stakeholders across UCL to understand their reporting needs and deliver insights that drive strategic decisions. Provide that technical leadership and mentoring to junior BI analysts and developers, ensuring best practices in data governance, security, and compliance (GDPR, HESA, data protection).
About you

To be considered for this role candidates will need a solid mix of the solid skills and experience:
Proven experience in business intelligence, data analytics, and enterprise data solutions.
Expertise in data modeling, ETL, and data integration techniques.
Strong SQL skills (T-SQL, PL/SQL) for query optimization and performance tuning. Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Synapse, Lakehouse) and Microsoft Purview.
Deep understanding of CRM data models (Salesforce, Dynamics) and enterprise data architectures.
Hands-on experience with Power BI (DAX, Power Query) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
Experience leading BI projects, mentoring teams, and driving best practices.
Desirable Skills
Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse).
Familiarity with AI-driven analytics and predictive modeling.
Understanding of higher education data management (HESA, Heidi Plus, student analytics).
Exposure to Python, R, or machine learning frameworks for advanced analytics.
