Official is looking for a talented senior-level backend engineer to own and drive technical projects from specification to delivery and beyond. You will impact millions of users, share know-how with the community, and experiment a lot. This permanent role will be based in London (On-site, remote or hybrid).

Key Accountabilities

Build backend API services and hosting infrastructure on Google Cloud

Be an efficient and responsible team member, communicate, participate and help

Analyse and optimise backend and infrastructure application code for quality, efficiency, and performance

Contribute technical ideas and suggestions to enhance the direction of products

Mind performance metrics to conclude and drive change

Develop test cases and be responsible for the quality of solutions you deliver

Experience We Are Looking For

Experience with the JavaScript/Typescript language

Experience with AWS and Google Cloud Platform

Experience designing and building APIs and measuring their performance.

Experience integrating a variety of third-party APIs and services

Experience in relational databases (PostgreSQL), document databases (MongoDB) and key-value stores (Redis)

Evidence of delivering consumer-facing, mass market, networked, high-performance solutions

Experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including schema design and testing techniques

Understanding of analytics, remote reporting, measurements, experiments and AB test systems

Experience with application performance monitoring and logging (Sentry, DataDog)

Nice to have

Experience with front-end web technologies is a plus (Vue.JS, React)

Experience with the Python, Go, Rust, or other server side languages

Sound computer science foundations: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, threading, relational and NOSQL databases, and programming languages

Words like caching, sharding, replication, horizontal scaling, and reliability are already familiar to you
