Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK's only international high-speed railway, High Speed (HS1).The 109km HS1 infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. This includes the iconic London St Pancras International Station, with its impressive Victorian architecture, as a gateway to mainland Europe and as a destination in its own right. As we move into a new Control Period in April the renewals programme is increasing to ensure we can continue to deliver a high-quality experience for our passengers.To achieve this, the successful person will:Provide a comprehensive built environment asset management and engineering support service to Network Rail High Speed. Lead the determination and development of allocated engineering requirements to support renewal, refurbishment and enhancement investment interventions. Lead the production of project requirement specifications and acceptance criteria for engineering works to achieve the required scope and quality in accordance with company asset policies.Key AccountabilitiesKey Accountabilities1. Contribute to the development of strategies and the prioritised work bank including the development and maintenance of asset management plans. Manage the inclusion of allocated items into appropriate programmes and monitor through to completion, including approval of programme changes. Determine and advise on the implications if work is not undertaken in the recommended time-frame including impact on appropriate asset measures and outputs.2. Lead the development and implementation of the built environment renewal, refurbishment and enhancement work bank including the specification and acceptance of the renewal requirements criteria for engineering works, design approval and any specific requirements for acceptance of the equipment into maintenance. Carry out asset condition inspections that will inform the asset condition database and the renewals work bank3. Following handover to delivery, support the development and implementation of projects to confirm the renewals requirements are correctly interpreted, that any changes in scope are agreed, the agreed deliverables in the asset management plan are delivered and that the scheme delivers the project remit.4. Lead the provision of built environment engineering input to enhancement projects such that they are specified and accepted in accordance with company asset policies and standards.5. Represent the Head of High Speed Engineering built environment including sitting on relevant System Review Panels and delivering analysis of engineering proposals as required.6. Audit that accurate and comprehensive records relating to the existence, configuration and modification history of allocated built environment engineering assets are maintained and that they accurately reflect their current 'as built' status.7. Lead investigations of incidents as required.8. Provide a comprehensive systems engineering support service across the built environment asset base throughout the route and across delivery units as and when required. Monitor and strive to improve the technical competence of engineers associated with E&P systems engineering in the delivery units.9. Provide systems engineering input to the determination of appropriate engineering maintenance regimes and activity volumes for built environment assets in accordance with company policies, standards and specifications. Providing necessary assistance to determine compliance with suitability and robustness of maintenance regimes10. Monitor the reliability and performance of built environment systems related assets across the route and instigate, lead and participate in the implementation of corrective actions to improve as required.11. Provide technical briefings associated with built environment systems engineering to engineers in delivery units in order that the purpose, as well as the content of standards, specification, etc. is understood.12.
