Job Description

A well-known tech company in Scotland is looking for a Senior Android Developer to join the team. They are very much one of Edinburgh\'s tech success stories and are about to start off another exciting period of growth.

They\'re looking for an experienced Android Developer to work on a greenfield project which is associated with one of their core product teams. As a company they\'re very product-driven and work with the most up to date engineering principles and standards.

What will I be doing?

You\'ll be expected to take the lead on the Android Development of this new project. You\'ll be joining an existing team but will be responsible for creating this new journey within the product. The project is centred payments and having a consistent payment method across all of the company\'s products, so it\'s very important and actually something they\'ve been wanting to do for a while. As it\'s a new project, you\'ll have a lot of autonomy to use the technologies in which you think will work best but they want to use Kotlin & Android Studio as a basis.

They\'d expect you to have experience with Kotlin and are ideally looking for someone that has experience leading on project(s) in the past.

Who am I?

You should be an experienced Android Engineer that is excited about working with the most modern technologies. Although they\'ve already scaled up as a company, they\'ve very much managed to keep the feel of a young tech company on the rise and certainly don\'t have boring corporate processes in place.

As a Senior Developer, they\'d expect you to get involved with some mentoring and also be a thought leader within the team. You don\'t need prior experience of this but will need strong soft skills and have a passion for helping others develop.

Who will I be working with?

Their engineering teams\' range in size but normally range from 4-8 Engineers. You\'ll also collaborate with Designers, Product people and Testers. The teams work very collaboratively and expect everyone in the team to get involved in technical discussions, so hopefully that is something you\'re used to.

Although your direct team won\'t be a mobile specific team, you\'ll still be part of the overall Mobile Engineering team and will have these people to collaborate with. You\'ll work very closely with the Senior iOS Engineer that will be working on the same thing as you but for iOS.

Where will I be based?

The company are HQ\'d in Edinburgh but do have an office in Glasgow as well. This specific team normally meet up in the Edinburgh office once per week, so you\'d be expected to do the same as a minimum. The rest of the time, you\'d be able to work from home or from either office.
